FMN is dedicated to providing ethical rescue practices and policies to ensure the care & wellbeing of our pets and their families. We are an entirely volunteer-ran, foster-based organization and are limited in our resources.
With this in mind, FMN reviews each request carefully to ensure we are keeping our promise to give 110% to every pet and only take on those we can responsibly and ethically care for.
To request to surrender your pet to FMN, please contact us and provide us with the following:

All FMN pets are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on age-appropriate vaccines! All records are from licensed veterinary professionals.
Puppies and kittens under 4 months of age may require follow up booster vaccines at a later date to be considered fully vaccinated. These are adopter’s responsibility.
FMN may have completed additional diagnostics and testings depending on pet condition and veterinary examination & recommendation. All veterinary records are transferred to new owner after completing adoption.

FMN adopts our pets out statewide (& even nation-wide)! We do require prospective families to travel to us in order to adopt. We do not ship, drive, transport any of our pets to any families outside of Fairbanks. Families must travel to Fairbanks to meet with the pet and complete adoption process.
Families that adopt outside of the Fairbanks area must be willing to help with transport and logistics to bring the pet back to our care inFairbanks if the adoption doesn’t work out. -

Submit adoption application for pet(s) that interest you & you believe would be a good match for your home!
FMN begins application review! For newly available and popular pets, FMN typically begins to review ALL submitted applications 3-5 days after pet is listed as available. For pets that have been available for a while, FMN may contact you as early as the next day.
FMN selects the best application based on fit for the pet’s long-term happiness & well-being! FMN only contacts the selected family. You can check on a pet’s availability status on our “available pets” page
◦ FMN does not give blanket approvals. All applications are reviewed in relation to the specified pet. If your application is not selected for your first pick and you see other pets that interest you, you must contact us to have your application moved over to other pets to be considered. You application will not be automatically applied to any other pets.
Schedule meet & adoption appointment! This is typically scheduled to happen within 48hrs to maintain process efficiency. Delayed scheduling leads to missed adoption opportunities for pets and unnecessarily increases time in rescue
Meet with pet, fall in love, & choose adoption!
◦ FMN cannot hold/reserve a pet after meet for delayed adoption
◦ FMN does not guarantee availability of any pet after meet
Make it official! Sign adoption contract & pay adoption fee
◦ includes return to rescue clause, all FMN pets must return to rescue if adopter cannot continue to care for pet
Medical records & microchip is transferred!

FMN is an entirely volunteer ran rescue with a majority of our dogs staying in foster homes throughout the Fairbanks/North Pole area. Due to this, it takes a significant amount of coordination and effort to schedule a meet and greet time.
With this in mind, FMN only schedules meet and greets with approved and selected applicants! Please see “What is FMN’s adoption process?” for more info!
