SURRENDERING A PET
Thank you for visiting our surrender page. We understand that this can be a heart-wrenching and deeply personal decision. Our team practices a future forward approach - focusing on what we can control moving forward to better the pet’s future to our best ability.
FMN is a limited intake rescue organization
Limited intake rescue organizations manage their admissions based on their current resource availability. This means we may not be able to take on your pet and reserve the right to decline service and admission.
At FMN we strive to give every pet 110%. In order to do so, we review every request to ensure we are responsibly intaking pets while maintaining our high standard level of care to our current pets.
In each review, we consider our resources. Available and willing foster homes, current financial state, current pet capacity, behavioral and/or medical need knowledge and ability, our volunteers’ emotional and mental capacity - all of these resources are limited but are critical factors in responsible rescue intake.
CONDITIONS OF SURRENDER
FMN maintains full confidentiality between all parties
We keep a protective layer of privacy between all fosters, adopters, and previous owners. Information regarding the type of home/people may be shared to other parties, but identifying information is strictly confidential for liability reduction as well as the privacy and safety of all involved. FMN WILL NOT SHARE YOUR INFORMATION WITH NEW ADOPTERS EVEN BY REQUEST.
FMN does not allow previous owners to foster their surrendered pet until adoption
From experience, we have found this to become a “sticky” situation. Surrendering a beloved pet is personal and heart-wrenching and high emotions can quickly cause issues within rescue practices and policies.
Surrendering your pet to FMN releases all ownership to FMN
Once a pet is surrendered, FMN retains full ownership and rights to the pet. We retain the right to control any and all decisions regarding the pet from medical care, adoption, etc.
